On 28-29 February 2024, within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ Project \u201cImplementation of European Union mechanisms for combating modern challenges and threats\u201d (101085700 – IMEU – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEITCH-RSCH) (2022-2025), the II International Scientific and Practical Conference \u201cMechanisms for combating modern challenges and threats: Lessons from the EU for Ukraine\u201d was held.<\/p>\n

More than 100 participants representing diverse backgrounds and professions, including scientists, teachers, students, business representatives, civil servants, public activists and other stakeholders from 14 countries, came together to share their insights and experiences at the conference.<\/p>\n

During the conference, the participants discussed the issue of satellite monitoring of the coastline as a tool for managing economic and environmental risks; ensuring the stability and sustainability of business in the war and post-war period, digital transformation of the economy and society, the development of alternative energy sources, the use of foreign experience to assess Ukraine\u2019s insurance market, mechanisms for integration and social inclusion of refugees and forcibly displaced persons for a sustainable society building. Moreover, cases of infrastructural ensuring environmental security of old industrial areas during post-war recovery and the development of space activities as an element of national security based on the EU experience were considered.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, as part of the conference, the debate on \u201cEU mechanisms for countering modern challenges and threats: strengths and weaknesses\u201d was held in the format of Karl Popper. The issues of “Modern mechanisms for countering hybrid threats from the Russian Federation” and \u201cRestoring the Kakhovska HPP: feasibility, challenges and threats\u201d were discussed during the debate.<\/p>\n
