On 28-29 February 2024, during the II International Scientific and Practical Conference \u201cMechanisms for combating modern challenges and threats: Lessons from the EU for Ukraine\u201d, which was held within the EU Erasmus+ Project \u201cImplementation of European Union mechanisms for combating modern challenges and threats\u201d (101085700 – IMEU – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEITCH-RSCH) (2022-2025), a debate on \u201cThe EU Mechanisms for Combating Modern Challenges and Threats: Strengths vs Weaknesses\u201d was held in the format of Karl Popper.<\/p>\n

As part of the debate, the issue of the feasibility of restoring the Kakhovska HPP and related challenges and threats, as well as modern mechanisms for combating hybrid threats from Russia, was discussed.<\/p>\n

Its main goal was to develop the students’ critical thinking skills, skills of searching for arguments, respect for opponents, and politely convey their own opinions.<\/p>\n

The debate rules stipulate the formation of two team opponents and a team of judges from debate participants, who voted for the team whose arguments were more convincing during the discussion.<\/p>\n

More than 40 participants, including students of Sumy State University majoring in international economic relations, tourism business, and the hospitality industry and students of other higher education institutions, scientists, teachers, business representatives, and other stakeholders, participated in the debate.<\/p>\n

Participating in the debate helped the participants develop the crucial skills necessary to achieve success in life in a modern democratic society and to increase their level of knowledge.<\/p>\n

We sincerely thank the moderators – PhD, Associate Professor Viktoriia Shkola<\/strong> and PhD Associate Professor Maryna Domashenko <\/strong>– for the professional organisation and all the event participants for fruitful work and exciting and meaningful arguments!<\/p>\n
