On 20-21 February 2025, within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ Project \u201cImplementation of European Union mechanisms for combating modern challenges and threats\u201d (101085700 – IMEU – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEITCH-RSCH) (2022-2025), the III International Scientific and Practical Conference \u201cMechanisms for combating modern challenges and threats: Lessons from the EU for Ukraine\u201d was held.<\/p>\n

More than 80 participants representing diverse backgrounds and professions, including scientists, teachers, students, business representatives, civil servants, public activists and other stakeholders from 14 countries, came together to share their insights and experiences at the conference.<\/p>\n

During the conference, the participants discussed the issues of ensuring Europe\u2019s sustainable prosperity, competitiveness and security, countering existing threats, in particular cyberterrorism; strengthening societies and the social model, solving the EU\u2019s energy trilemma; digital transformations and the use of artificial intelligence for cities\u2019 resilience, sustainability and security during war and post-war period, as well as the development of blue and nature-oriented tourism based on the EU experience.<\/p>\n

Moreover, legal instruments of the EU environmental policy of biodiversity, EU mechanisms for combating global risks and threats, ensuring a resilient, sustainable and prosperous future and facilitating Ukraine\u2019s recovery were considered.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, as part of the conference, the debate on \u201cEU mechanisms for countering modern challenges and threats: strengths and weaknesses\u201d was held in the format of Karl Popper. The issues of \u201cRare earth metals in Ukraine: should we sign a deal with the USA?\u201d and \u201cFurther\u00a0strengthening Ukraine-EU-NATO cooperation: feasibility, challenges and threats\u201d were discussed during the debate.<\/p>\n
