On 26 November 2025, the CLOUD HED consortium held a Sounding Board meeting via Zoom to discuss the latest results of Work Packages 2 and 3. Representatives from higher education institutions, research organizations, and policy bodies across Europe and beyond contributed to a lively exchange of ideas.
During the discussion of Work Package 2, members highlighted the value of a historical perspective, including lessons from WWII, for understanding contemporary higher education challenges. The consortium was encouraged to share its forthcoming handbook through relevant platforms such as podcasts, newsletters, and major higher education conferences, and to engage with policymakers at national and EU levels. Attention was drawn to ensuring continuity and accessibility in both disaster scenarios (e.g., pandemics) and situations affecting technical infrastructure, such as armed conflicts.
Work Package 3 prompted reflections on supporting neighbouring countries in adopting cloud-based systems, while considering technical sovereignty and the critical role of research infrastructure, including libraries, laboratories, and archives. The mental health of staff and students was also emphasized as an essential aspect of institutional preparedness.
The consortium concluded the meeting by inviting Sounding Board members to help disseminate CLOUD HED results through the project newsletter and LinkedIn page, aiming to reach a wider audience.
The next Sounding Board meeting is planned for spring 2026.
