Development of International Partnership Between SumDU and JAMK: The Next Stage of the “Pedagogy in the State of Emergency” Project

Recently, lecturers from Sumy State University visited JAMK University of Applied Sciences (Jyväskylä, Finland) as part of the international grant project “Pedagogy in the State of Emergency.” The project is funded by the Finnish National Agency for Education through the Team Finland Knowledge (TFK) programme and coordinated by JAMK University of Applied Sciences.

The visit, which took place from 8 to 12 February 2025, became the second in-person meeting of the partners in Finland. Regular mobilities within the project make it possible to ensure a high pace in developing joint educational solutions and to strengthen academic cooperation.

The project team includes four representatives of SumDU, among them Associate Professor of the Department of International Economic Relations, PhD in Economics, Oksana Zamora. Together with Finnish colleagues, they are developing an online course dedicated to trauma-informed pedagogy and supporting students in crisis situations. The results of a student survey were discussed, as well as an overview of other international projects being implemented in Ukraine. In addition, Ms. Zamora, together with her colleague Alla Krasulia, PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor and Head of the International Cooperation Office of SumDU, delivered an open lecture for JAMK students and staff, sharing experience of the functioning of higher education in Ukraine under a state of emergency.

The project is now moving to the next stage. During this period, active work will continue on developing the course content, piloting it, and further adapting it based on participant feedback. This will help create the most effective tools for educators working under emergency conditions.

Cooperation with international partners continues to contribute to the internationalisation of SumDU and the implementation of advanced educational practices.
