On September 22, the Department of International Economic Relations at Sumy State University hosted a guest lecture by Kostiantyn Volodymyrovych Makarenko, President of the Sumy Chamber of Commerce and Industry, entitled “Activities of the Sumy Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Regional Development.”
The lecture focused on how the Sumy Chamber of Commerce and Industry operates in practice, how it supports businesses, and what opportunities it offers to young people.
Kostiantyn Volodymyrovych spoke about the Chamber’s key areas of activity, its support for entrepreneurs, the development of business relations, and international cooperation. Particular attention was paid to how the Sumy Chamber of Commerce and Industry engages with young professionals and what opportunities it provides for those who are just beginning their careers.
Of particular interest to our students was the practical part of the lecture, which covered opportunities for internships at the Sumy Chamber of Commerce and Industry, participation in conferences, round tables, training sessions and educational events, as well as employment prospects. The discussion also addressed the skills employers expect from candidates today, including the importance of proficiency in English and other foreign languages for careers involving international activities.
Such meetings provide students with an opportunity to learn about their future profession not only in the classroom but also directly from professionals who work with businesses and international partners on a daily basis.
