K-Science Mapping and the Role of Women in Science. Mentoring Meeting with Female Students of the Department of International Economic Relations

In November, the Department of International Economic Relations hosted a mentoring meeting for female students entitled “K-Science Mapping. Women and Girls in Science”, conducted by S.V. Tarasenko, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor. The event focused on practical aspects of developing academic research and fostering contemporary research-oriented thinking.

Within the framework of K-Science Mapping, participants discussed the role of women and girls in Ukrainian science, their career trajectories, and the challenges faced by early-career female researchers at the beginning of their academic paths. Particular attention was given to the discussion on whether a researcher needs a personal “compass” and which first two steps are crucial for entering scientific activity.

During the reflection session, students responded to the questions of which research projects in science inspire them the most and which problems they aim to address through their own academic work.

The participants emphasized the importance of developing key skills essential for scientific activity, including design thinking, attention management and focus, creativity, and effective research planning.
