The department’s scientists became executors of the DISCO project, financed by the Horizon Europe program

By decision of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), Sumy State University is involved in the 2nd phase of the DISCO (Developing Innovative Sustainable Cooperation Opportunities) project.

European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) strengthens Europe’s ability to innovate by powering solutions to pressing global challenges and by nurturing entrepreneurial talent to create sustainable growth and skilled jobs in Europe. The EIT is an EU body and an integral part of Horizon Europe, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The Institute supports dynamic pan-European partnerships, EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities, among leading companies, research labs and universities. The EIT is Europe’s largest innovation ecosystem bringing together close to 3 000 partners from top business, research and education organisations across Europe in 200+ hubs. The EIT has powered more than 3 800 start-ups and scale-ups, created more than 1 400 new products and services that have gone to raise more than EUR 3.9 billion in external capital. Now Sumy State University is joining this innovative system.

The DISCO project is aimed at strengthening the innovation potential of European higher education institutions through joint training, cooperation with non-profit enterprises, small and medium-sized businesses to form a broad innovation ecosystem. The second phase of the project is scheduled for the end of 2024, the budget is EUR 900,000. Representatives of Sumy University are invited to the presentation of the potential of new partners, which will take place at the Krakow University of Economics on September 13-15, 2023.

The thematic head of the project from Sumy State University is the head of the Department of International Economic Relations, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Yuriy PETRUSHENKO.
