Within the framework of the international Erasmus+ KA2 project “CLOUD HED:: Disaster Resilience in Higher Education Systems via a Cloud University Model,” in which our department’s faculty members – Ph.D., Senior Researcher Anna Vorontsova and Ph.D., Associate Professor Svitlana Tarasenko participate, the May newsletter has been released.
As a reminder, the project aims to systematize and analyze the challenges faced by higher education systems during crises, as well as to develop a concept that will allow higher education institutions (HEIs) to carry out their educational mission through the Cloud University model.
The May newsletter summarizes the key achievements of the consortium:
- Completion of the handbook “Higher Education in Times of War and Crisis. Institutional Resilience, Responses, and Preparedness in Contexts of Armed Conflict and Systemic Disruption,” which examines how HEIs respond to war and crisis by analyzing contemporary (Ukraine, Israel), historical (World War II, Yugoslav wars), and anticipatory (Poland, Latvia) cases to determine strategies for preserving institutional resilience, continuity, and accessibility of learning. The book has been accepted for publication by Brill, with its release expected in November 2026.
- Finalization of the working package WP3 “Conceptualisation of a whole-university shift to a temporary emergency state: The CLOUD HED-mode,” the results of which will be reflected in the publication of a book chapter dedicated to the institutional readiness of European universities for emergency digital transformation in times of crisis and emergency situations, and will form the basis of practical recommendations for HEIs to strengthen digital resilience.
- Ongoing work on the preparation of training materials within the working package WP4, which focuses on developing training materials and modules for HEI teaching staff working under crisis conditions who require a rapid shift to digital teaching, based on a survey of 44 teachers across four countries experiencing either acute or stable crisis situations. The resulting training materials and modules are scheduled for release after summer 2026 via the project website.
More detailed information about these and previous results can be found on the CLOUD HED project website.
We also invite everyone interested to subscribe to the Newsletterto follow the project’s further achievements.
