PARTICIPATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL FREEAC EXPERT MEETING – FOCUS ON ACADEMIC FREEDOM AND INSTITUTIONAL ROLE

On 28 April 2026, Inna Koblianska, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of International Economic Relations at Sumy State University, participated in an international expert meeting within the Erasmus+ project “Promoting Academic Freedom in Ukraine (FreeAc)” held in Palermo, Italy.

The event brought together Ukrainian and European experts, university representatives, and policymakers to discuss the challenges faced by Ukrainian higher education during the war and to develop strategic approaches for its recovery and future development.

Within the second panel (Focus Group B: Academic Freedom and Governance), Inna Koblianska contributed to discussions on academic freedom, institutional autonomy, and the functioning of universities under wartime conditions.

Particular attention was given to balancing necessary security restrictions with the preservation of academic values, identifying long-term risks for higher education, and strengthening the role of universities as key institutions supporting societal resilience and development.

Participation in such international expert platforms enhances the integration of Ukrainian experience into the European context and contributes to shaping a shared vision for the future of higher education.
