Do what you can with what you have, and there, where you are (Ksenia Grynyk)

03.11, first-year students of the major “International Economic Relations” had the opportunity to meet an outstanding person in our city – Ksenia Hrynyk, who heads the volunteer NGO “KAMIN”. Representatives from the SSU volunteer movement Anastasia Klemberg and Olena Guriy also attended the meeting. It was an excellent opportunity to remember universal values and feel that we can change reality for the better; we only need to begin.
Our guest’s life story can be an inspiring example because it was not serious in the beginning. In 2018, Ksenia took on the responsibility to coordinate volunteer work with the Sumy Regional Specialized Orphanage. In 2019, her activity extended to low-income families.
Today, during a challenging 2020, the list added assistance to the elderly who cannot leave the house during the quarantine.
The volunteer movement at SSU is already well known in the city. Our boys and girls take care of the environment and the homeless and spend small and large holidays for orphans, and much more. And now they expressed a desire to cooperate with Ms. Ksenia!
It is not about financial assistance. The main thing is the volunteers’ help through actions: to organize walks for children since there is a lack of staff, to become a senior mentor-friend for an orphan, to help workers in an animal shelter, to go to the store for grandparents, to promote a healthy lifestyle or just information, etc.
During the meeting, several times, tears came to eyes from those life stories that could have ended sadly and now have every chance of a happy ending.
So, let us not be indifferent, because together we really can do more! And no one is safe from being in a situation where you need help.
