On September 21, students of the specialty “International Economic Relations” of the ME-11 and ME-92 а.ан groups and lecturers of the department, Assoc. Prof. Yarova I.Ye., Assoc. Prof. Khomutenko L.I., Assoc. Prof. Shcherbachenko V.O., Assoc. Prof. Tarasenko S.V. took part in the training seminar «Methodology of trade policy analysis: what can the numbers tell us» initiated and supported by the United States Agency for International Development (U. S. Agency for International Development) and the internationally recognized Ukrainian independent analytical center of the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting headed by the Chairman of the Board, Ph, Professor of the Department of Economic Theory of the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy Ihor Burakovsky and Head of the Center for Economic Research Veronika Movchan.
The seminar was devoted to the following questions: how to understand whether a country or your business will benefit from a free trade area with another country? What data is publicly available in Ukraine and abroad? What can and cannot the models show? During the workshop, students learned about available data sources, basic tools for foreign trade analysis, their capabilities and limitations. In particular, the students got acquainted with the relevance of the USAID-approved Development Cooperation Strategy with Ukraine for 2019-2024, which highlights such issues as anti-corruption activities, counteracting the impact of Russian aggression, as well as promoting economic development and energy independence of the country.
