Scientific Café: Science that Connects and Supports
“Scientific Café” is a social initiative of the Department of International Economic Relations aimed at promoting science, fostering modern thinking, and developing key competencies among young people. Through open lectures, discussions, and the dissemination of engaging materials, the initiative introduces audiences to current trends in scientific development and research, as well as technological advancements.
A distinctive feature of the project is its charitable component – participation in events is available for a donation equivalent to the cost of a cup of coffee. In this way, each participant not only gains access to up-to-date knowledge but also contributes to supporting the
Ukrainian army. At the same time, educational activities for school students are provided free of charge, expanding access to quality education and supporting youth career guidance.
“Scientific Café” is a space for open dialogue, where science becomes more accessible and knowledge turns into a tool for change and support.

An initiative of the Department of International Economic Relations at Sumy State University aimed at supporting youth, fostering critical thinking, and enhancing public awareness of key international processes and Ukraine’s European integration.
The project provides open access to verified analytical content, materials from international institutions and think tanks (including the European Parliament, New Europe Center, and Ukrainian Prism), and informs about educational and professional opportunities that contribute to young people’s self-realisation.
In the context of wartime challenges, the initiative performs an important social function – helping students and the wider audience navigate a complex information environment, fostering a responsible civic position, and maintaining connections with the European academic and professional space. Particular attention is given to promoting opportunities for development, internships, and employment (including those offered by the East Europe Foundation), thereby strengthening youth resilience and their engagement in the country’s recovery.
UKRAINIAN IDENTITY IN DIPLOMACY AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

The initiative’s content is shaped through the sharing of materials from experts, journalists, diplomats, and official institutions (including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine), as well as testimonies and stories highlighting the impact of the war on civilians. Particular attention is given to countering disinformation, explaining the causes and course of Russian aggression (since 2014), and fostering a well-informed international perspective on developments in Ukraine.
The initiative performs an important social function – raising awareness among international audiences, strengthening societal information resilience, and promoting an active civic stance. In the context of war, it serves as a tool for advocacy, solidarity, and engagement in the global dialogue on supporting Ukraine.
