SSU Hosted Participants Of The Academic Tour For Young Scientists Within The Framework Of The Czech Project

On November 18, 2019, the SSU welcomed participants of the academic tour for young scientists within the framework of the Czech project intended to learn about the infrastructure of university and know-how in order to create the scientific cooperation between the universities of Ukraine and the Czech Republic. During the visit to the SNAU on November 19, SSU and all partner universities were presented with a seedling of ginkgo Biloba tree as a sign of the future cooperation growth.

On November 18, 2019 8 young scientists from Ukraine and 2 representatives of the Czech University of Live Sciences in Prague visited the Sumy State University within the framework of the academic tour, which takes place on November 17-21, as part of a joint Czech project “Support Of Young University Capacity In Education And Research And Science Activities In Ukraine”. It is planned that the participants will visit the scientific infrastructure and will meet with colleagues from Sumy State University, Sumy National Agrarian University and Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University. On November 21, participants will be able to take part in an international conference at the BNAU.

The aim of the tour is to exchange existing quality assurance and research practices, their difficulties and challenges for the future, mutual discussions in an informal setting, with the purpose to deepen cooperation and to discuss the development of scientific skills, inter-university collaboration between young scientists and their teams. Some sessions of the tour will solve the issues on improving the participants’ research competencies, including scientific writing, publication of scientific papers, introduction to Mendeley and ResearchGate, use of scientific sources and metrics, scientific groups, students’ participation in the research works. The working language of the event is English, as a result, participants will receive a certificate of participation in international study trips. Travel expenses, living and eating costs are covered by the project.

On November 18, the tour participants met with representatives from the system to assure the quality of education, work with employers, development of innovations and start-ups, engineering faculty and faculty of economics and management of the SSU.

On November 19, during a delegation visit to the SNAU campus, the Department of Landscape and Forestry presented to the representatives of the SSU and other partner universities the seedling of Ginkgo Biloba, which is one of the oldest tree species on the planet, as a symbol of the future cooperation growth between the consortium.

The events are organized within the framework of a joint project of the Czech University of Natural Sciences in Prague and the SSU, the SNAU and the BNAU with the financial support of the Czech Development Agency. The project is entitled “Support Of Young University Capacity In Education And Research And Science Activities In Ukraine”. The project co-coordinator on the Ukrainian side is Oksana Zamora, PhD, Associate Professor of the International Economic Relations Department of ERI of Business Technologies of UABS, Sumy State University.
