Getting to Know the University: The Department of International Economic Relations at SumDU Open Day

On October 17, 2026, Sumy State University hosted its Open Day event, “Welcome to University Life,” bringing together school pupils, college students, teachers, and parents of prospective applicants. The event provided an excellent opportunity for young people to learn more about the university, its educational opportunities, and prospects for professional development.

The event was attended by Viktoriia Shcherbachenko, Senior Lecturer, and Karyna Holikova, a third-year student of the Department of International Economic Relations. They introduced the department and familiarized prospective applicants with the opportunities offered by the International Economics educational program, which is planned to be launched in 2027.

During the discussions, visitors learned about the specifics of training specialists in international economics, the importance of understanding global economic processes, and opportunities for professional development in an increasingly globalized world. Attention was paid to the importance of foreign language proficiency, intercultural communication, analytical skills, and knowledge of international markets for future career development.

An important part of the presentation was the opportunity to talk with a current student, who shared her personal learning experience and spoke about student life and the educational process. This format allowed prospective applicants to receive answers to their questions directly from department representatives and gain a better understanding of what it means to be part of the university community.

The Department of International Economic Relations’ participation in the Open Day was an important step in its career guidance activities, the promotion of economics education, and the development of dialogue with prospective applicants.

The Department of International Economic Relations at SumDU invites future applicants to explore the world of international economics, develop professional competencies, and build successful careers in a global environment!
