This summer, Anastasiia Teslyk, a 4th year student of the Department of International Economic Relations, is doing an internship in Canada under the Mitacs Globalink program at the University of Saskatchewan.
Anastasiia is working on a research project titled “Migrant Behavior in Everyday Life: The Economics of Prejudice.” She is studying how beliefs about luck, omens, and other forms of everyday superstitious thinking influence people’s economic decisions.
So far, the first days of the internship are passing: getting to know the university environment, professor and mentor, adapting to the new rhythm, and, of course, being interested in the local culture.
Anastasiia shares: “This is not only an opportunity to work with a non-trivial topic, but also an experience of intercultural cooperation and new approaches to research. It is also extremely interesting to learn more about the life of Ukrainian communities in Canada – I admire how they have managed to preserve their culture in the local context.”
