Head of the Department of International Economic Relations Yuriy Petrushenko and senior lecturer of the department Svitlana Tarasenko won the international competitive selection of the Kirkland Research research program funded by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation.
Since 2001, the scholarship program named after Lane Kirkland has supported the individual development of young, ambitious and active citizens of Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia. The purpose of the program is to share the Polish experience of political transformation and integration with the European Union. Among the nearly 1,000 graduates of the Program are members of governments, parliamentarians, heads of large international corporations, heads of local self-government bodies, and well-known public figures.
This year, the Program was initiated by 34 Kirkland Program Fellows and 7 Kirkland Research Fellows. Participants represent 10 countries covered by the Program: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
Participants of the Kirkland Research research program are required to carry out individual research work under the guidance of a scientific supervisor, the result of which is the preparation of scientific articles. The basis for receiving a diploma on completion of the Program is also the presentation of research results during the annual conference of fellows in Warsaw in January.
Research by Yuriy Petrushenko dedicated to the influence of the education system on the development of local communities, the place of affiliation is the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Research by Svitlana Tarasenko devoted to the socio-economic aspects of creating artificial intelligence, the place of affiliation is the University of Warsaw.
