PhD in Economics Svitlana Tarasenko took part in an international researchers’ discussion, the results of which are presented in the publication “AI, Design and Homelessness: An Exploration of Ethics, Innovation and Inclusion,” available in open access through the University of Calgary’s digital archive.
The discussion, organized by the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape on March 20, 2025, brought together scholars and practitioners from Canada, Switzerland, Germany, the USA, South Africa, and Ukraine to explore the potential and limitations of generative AI in tackling complex social challenges such as homelessness.
Participants emphasized the importance of an ethical approach to AI implementation that promotes inclusion and social justice. The discussion raised a key question: Can artificial intelligence help imagine a better future rather than simply replicate the past?
The participation of Sumy State University’s representative highlights the active integration of Ukrainian researchers into global academic initiatives aimed at understanding the role of AI in shaping ethical and sustainable approaches to societal development.
