PARTICIPATION OF STUDENTS STUDYING “INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC RELATIONS” IN THE INTERNATIONAL COIL PROGRAMME ‘INTERNATIONAL TRADE’

From 27 April to 19 June 2026, students on the ‘International Economic Relations’ degree programme will be taking part in the COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) international programme on ‘International Trade’, run in collaboration with the CERGE-EI Foundation (Prague, Czech Republic).

The “International Trade” course within the COIL programme focuses on both theory and empirical research in international (interregional) trade, as well as on the analysis of countries’ trade policies.

In particular, the COIL format involves international collaboration between students and lecturers from universities in different countries, joint discussions, individual projects, the analysis of practical case studies, and working in a multicultural academic environment online. A distinctive feature of the programme is the combination of modern, innovative distance learning technologies with the use of artificial intelligence tools.

Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to:

  • gain a basic understanding of the empirical aspects of modern international trade, particularly the role of international supply chains;
  • understand the logic of comparative advantage and the division of labour;
  • gain an understanding of modern trade theory;
  • become familiar with the main instruments of trade policy and acquire the ability to analyse/demonstrate their effects in simple models;
  • explain trade models, trade gains and the distributional effects of trade through the main theoretical concepts of international trade.

The programme includes lectures, focus groups and weekly interactive seminars in English, using specific professional terminology.
