The Department of International Economic Relations at Sumy State University continues its practice of engaging experts in the educational process.
On April 9, 2026, a guest lecture was delivered by Olena Bordilovska – Doctor of Political Sciences, Leading Researcher and Head of the Department of New Challenges at the National Institute for Strategic Studies, who served as Second Secretary for Humanitarian Cooperation at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan from 2019 to 2022.
The event brought together students, PhD students, and academic staff interested in the practical aspects of international activity and diplomacy.
During the lecture, the speaker shared her practical experience of working in a diplomatic institution, focusing on key areas of embassy activities, particularly humanitarian cooperation and international communication. Special attention was paid to intercultural interaction, the importance of considering the socio-cultural context of the host country, and the role of diplomats in shaping a positive international image of the state.
The lecture also addressed the practical challenges of diplomatic service, the importance of effective communication, and the role of soft skills in a diplomat’s professional activity.
The event attracted considerable interest among participants, contributed to a deeper understanding of diplomatic practice, and opened up new perspectives for professional development in the international field.
