The Department Of International Economic Relations Launches A New Erasmus+ Project On Cultural Heritage Recovery After Disasters And Conflicts

Sumy State University, represented by the Department of International Economic Relations, has become a partner of the KA220-YOU project “Cultural Heritage Recovery After Disasters and Conflicts – Understanding, Training, and Encouragement” (registration number: 2023-2-TR01-KA220-YOU-000182116). The project aims at preserving vulnerable cultural heritage sites, enhancing community resilience, and providing quality education, aligning with priorities in cultural heritage preservation, building resilient communities, and youth development. Engaging youth in efforts to reduce disaster risks and recovery is crucial for increasing the human resource in this area.

The expected duration of the project is 24 months. From SumDU, the coordinating team will be represented by Doctor of Economics, Professor Yurii Petrushenko, and Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Oksana Zamora. The project will be implemented by a consortium of the following partners:

  • Proactive Educational, Scientific, and Cultural International NGO, Turkey (coordinator)
  • Sumy State University (Ukraine)
  • AYBU University (Ankara, Turkey)
  • Hitit University (Çorum, Turkey)
  • Federation of Youth Associations for European Mobility (Spain)
  • Umbrian Training Center-UTC (Italy)

The main goal of the project is to provide young people with cultural heritage management skills in post-disaster scenarios, focusing on preservation, disaster preparedness, and response. The project envisions that young participants will acquire knowledge and skills in cultural heritage management, increasing their employability and activating their participation in community life. Additionally, the project will contribute to preserving cultural heritage sites and artifacts that are vulnerable to disasters and conflicts.
