The New Joint Czech-Ukrainian Project Launches a Call for Mini-Grants for PhD Students of SumDU

The project team is pleased to announce a call for mini-grants for research groups of PhD students/young researchers within the project “ENHANCEMENT OF THE PHD STUDENTS POTENTIAL FOR QUALITATIVE RESEARCH IN UKRAINE” (August-December 2022), funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. Young scientists (postgraduate students) can apply for a grant for their research activities in multidisciplinary scientific teams.

Grants are intended to support young researchers in their scientific development, so the committee will use the following criteria for evaluating submitted applications:

  • at least one team member has completed a virtual course of our project “Practical Tools for Grant-Funded Research” or “Academic English”;
  • uniqueness of the solved problem and the project proposal itself;
  • realistic goals/planned results of the project, significance of the impact of the project;
  • approach to problem solving;
  • prospects of cooperation with the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (CZU);
  • cooperation between universities of the consortium (SumDU, DDAEU, BTNAU, SNAU, PNU, Chernihiv Polytechnic);
  • Adequacy of requested financial expenses.

Project evaluation criteria (grant applications) are established as those that give preference to:

– Cooperation of at least two universities from the mentioned consortium will be ensured;

– The results of the research will be published in a scientific publication;

– The team consists of PhD students, but the scientific consultation of senior colleagues is recommended.

The competition instructions and the project proposal template (up to 3 pages + CVs in total) can be downloaded here. Please use only the application form provided. The language of project applications and project implementation is English.

The maximum amount of the grant for the team is 33,500 CZK. A detailed calculation and justification of the necessary costs must be provided and may include costs for researchers’ fees, the purchase of necessary research materials, travel, accommodation and per diems. List these points for each person on the team and for each activity. After the implementation of the project, each expense item must be supported by original documentation, e.g. receipts, tickets, boarding passes, etc.

Deadline for submission of applications (project proposals) in electronic versions (with scanned signatures of the team): 25.09.2022 until 23:59 (CET) – electronic version to the email address: khvorost.t83@gmail.com.

Applications submitted after the deadline or applications that do not meet all formal requirements will not be considered eligible for participation in the competition.

The selection results will be announced on September 28, 2022. Period of implementation of the grant project: 29.09-27.11.2022. Reporting on the implementation of the project – 27-30.11.2022.

 The development project “INCREASING THE POTENTIAL OF GRADUATE STUDENTS FOR QUALITY RESEARCH IN UKRAINE” (August-December 2022) is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The project has been launched by the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (Czech Republic) and Sumy State University in a consortium with other 4 Ukrainian universities: Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University, Sumy National Agrarian University, Polish National University, and Chernihiv Polytechnic National University. The head of the project from the Czech side is David Herak, Ph.D., Faculty of Engineering. The project coordinator from the Ukrainian side for Sumy State University is a Ph.D. in Economics, Associate Professor Oksana Zamora, Department of International Economic Relations of the ARI BiEM.
