On March 20, 2023, a public discussion “Trade policy of Ukraine as a candidate country for EU membership: relations with the rest of the world” was held by the Institute of Economic Research and Policy Consultations (IED) with the support of the USAID Program “Competitive Economy of Ukraine”. Students of MEm-21an and senior lecturer of the Department of International Economic Relations Shcherbachenko V.O. have visited this event within the practice-oriented training in the discipline “Risk Management in International Business”. The online meeting brought together more than 100 participants. Speaker Veronika Movchan – director of scientific work of the IED, presented a report on the EU’s trade relations with other countries, Ukraine’s foreign trade through the prism of the EU’s trade regime, and a preliminary assessment of the impact of certain potential FTAs of Ukraine. The purpose of the study were a comparative analysis of the trade regime of the EU and Ukraine in relation to third countries, an assessment of the potential opportunities and consequences of obtaining the status of a candidate for EU membership for the trade of Ukraine and its trade policy in the period of preparation for membership. After the presentation, this topic became a lively discussion.
