PROFESSIONS OF THE FUTURE – A DIALOGUE WITH SCHOOL STUDENTS ABOUT CAREER CHOICES

On 21 April 2026, an open lecture titled “Professions of the Future” was delivered by Inna Koblianska, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of International Economic Relations at Sumy State University, for students and teachers of Konotop Lyceum No. 10 (Sumy region).

The event was held within the framework of the department’s social volunteer initiative “Scientific Café” and provided an opportunity to engage with school students on the evolving world of professions and the challenges faced by young people today.

During the lecture, participants explored how the labour market is transforming under the influence of technology, which skills are becoming essential, and how to navigate career choices in an uncertain environment. Particular attention was given to the importance of intercultural competences, their role in today’s globalised world, and opportunities for their development through education, international interaction, and participation in various educational initiatives.

The lecture also highlighted the importance of developing flexibility of thinking, critical reasoning, and a commitment to lifelong learning as key factors for future professional success.

Such initiatives contribute to a more informed approach to career choice and help young people better understand the rapidly changing world around them.
