A series of five workshops for students has been completed as part of the project “EU Experience for Enhancing Youth Employment through the Development of Professional Skills.”

Senior Lecturer of the Department of International Economic Relations at Sumy State University, Ph.D. Shcherbyna T.V., organized a series of five workshops within the framework of the project “EU Experience for Enhancing Youth Employment through the Development of Professional Skills” (ERASMUS-JMO-2021-MODULE – SKILLS4JOB – 101047867), implemented with the support of the Jean Monnet ERASMUS+ K3 program.

All workshops focused on the topic of cross-cultural communications and their importance for successful work in an international environment. Participants explored cultural differences between EU countries and Ukraine, examined the specifics of business communications in multinational teams, and discussed the impact of cultural context on managerial decision-making.

During the workshops, the following topics were covered:

  1. Dynamics of cross-cultural cooperation: studying cultural models and their impact on international cooperation, including Hall’s and Hofstede’s theories.
  2. Challenges and advantages: analyzing real examples of challenges and benefits of cross-cultural cooperation.
  3. Best practices: recommendations for effective communication, managing work styles, and building successful collaborations.

Special attention was paid to practical skills: participants learned to apply intercultural analysis tools, develop effective communication strategies, and adapt business strategies to cultural contexts. Methods for effective use of non-verbal communication and professional etiquette in various European countries were also presented.

This series of workshops helped prepare students for the challenges that arise in the international business environment by developing their cross-cultural competence to enhance their competitiveness in the European labor market.
