On December 7-13, 2023, a set of informational and educational events took place in Ankara (Turkey) as part of the Erasmus+ KA2 project “Empowering Youth Workers Against Radicalization”, financed by the European Commission as part of the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 program, grant agreement 2022-1-TR01-KA220-YOU-000090238. Youth representatives from Ukraine were invited to participate, in particular from Sumy State University of Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of International Economic Relations Oksana Zamora and students of the department Alisa Tulyakova and Daryna Petrovchuk, as well as a student of the Department of Marketing Anastasia Budyonna.
During the event, a series of lectures, discussions, and group work took place on the topics of radicalization, its factors, and the influence of social media on its spread.
The cases of Turkey and Spain, the Middle East, as well as methods of combating and preventing radicalization were considered. For a deeper understanding of the problem, the participants visited several relevant institutions, such as: Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Faculty of Theology, ORSAM Middle East Research Center, July 15 Museum, Migration Management Presidency.
The main result of the training event was the generation of a preliminary concept of an informational international online portal on the topic of youth radicalization and the fight against it.
