Participation of the team member of the EU Erasmus+ program “Implementation of European Union mechanisms for combating modern challenges and threats ” in the workshop “Ethics and gender sensitivity in research”

On January 26, 2024, the executor of the EU Erasmus+ program project on the topic ” Implementation of European Union mechanisms for combating modern challenges and threats ” (101085700 – IMEU – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEITCH-RSCH), Phd of economics, assoc. prof. Maryna Domashenko took part in the workshop “Ethics and gender sensitivity in research“.

The event was held as part of the “UA Transformation Lab” project, which is a joint project of the Institute of European Politics (Berlin), Cedos, «The Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation» and the “New Europe” Center and is implemented with the support of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The goal of the project is to strengthen Ukrainian analytical centers and public organizations, to deepen their cooperation with local authorities and to provide the necessary tools for effective promotion of recovery and European integration processes.

The speaker of the workshop, doctor of sociological sciences, researcher Olena Strelnyk, shared her own research experience, considered specific cases, and engaged the participants in an interesting discussion.

The following issues were considered during the workshop:

  • Basic ethical principles and norms of sociological research and documents regulating them;
  • “Ethics of care”: the influence of feminist approaches on modern principles of research ethics and research methodology;
  • Principles of (good) research: reflexivity, attention to inequalities and their intersections, participativeness, research as a political action;
  • “Do no harm”: war as an ethical challenge for conducting research and principles of trauma-oriented approaches;
  • Gender-sensitive and anti-discriminatory language of the report.
